According to reports, Former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte had begun talks to be Tottenham’s manager and spurs were even edging closer to reach an agreement.
However, negotiations have now stalled and Spurs have been dealt a huge blow in the pursuit of the Italian manager with Conte unconvinced about the job.
Ever reliable Football journalist, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Conte’s salary demands were another sticking point, as well as the number of staff that would be allocated to him.
The 51-year-old had reservations over taking the job because to turn Spurs back into a title challenging team, he needs much work and proper backing of the board but he wasn’t fully convinced Levy was going to do that.
Conte is clearly a manager who likes a visible path to a title and at Arsenal, he will deliver one right away should he become the new Coach.
When Quizzed on if he would love to take the Arsenal job,
Conte said: “I am open for offers and willing to join any good side as long as we reach an agreement.
“Yes, it true I talked to Tottenham but we didn’t reach agreement yet.
“My people also say to me that Arsenal and many other clubs are interested. I am just waiting for good deal” He added.
While it is being rumored that the Italian is waiting till the Arsenal job becomes available, it remains to be seen if the Gunners will throw in the hat and sack Mikel Arteta to appoint Conte.
