Rudiger lost game time under the former manager and was was speculated not happy with the former regime before the board came through to appoint a new manager following Lampard sack
Rudiger has made fine two clean sheet appearances for Chelsea since Thomas Tuchel took over Frank Lampard‘s job and sets to achieve more under the new manager.
But this meant at the detriment of Kurt Zouma who has been left out of Tuchel’s first two games as Chelsea boss.
Losing game time under Frank Lampard sparked off lots of exit rumors, linking the German to moves outside London as he has also been talked of being responsible for Frank Lampard sack.
In response to the rumors, The Athletic took the time to question the 27-year-old on the surrounding rumors.
“There have been so many nonsense rumors about me since last week,” Rudiger said when asked of the role he played in Frank Lampard sack.
“I’ve never talked with the board about the situation of the coach or on any other topics,” he continued.
“Frank Lampard trusted in my abilities after Christmas in a very difficult situation and I was thankful for this. It was also the main reason why I told my representatives not to look for a possible winter move anymore.
“Unfortunately, it was not meant to be for our team to turn things around for the coach. We always wanted the best for the manager and for the club.
Frank Lampard took over a crumbling Chelsea who were hit with transfer ban and at the verge of losing their most talented star; Hazard but the English man managed to finish top 4, qualifying for the UCL coupled with a FA Cup final which he unfortunately lost to Arsenal.
This happening that occurred during the 2019/2020 season has alone made Rudiger amassed so much respect and support for Frank Lampard as he claimed saying;
“He took over the manager position last season when things were very complicated for all of us. But we managed to qualify for the Champions League together with him
“He has given so many young players a chance in the first team and they are still doing an amazing job. I’m pretty sure we will see Frank Lampard back again at another club very soon.”
Chelsea prepare to take on Tottenham tomorrow in the derby clash with Tuchel looking for Rudiger and the Thiago partnership to yield him yet another game where the opponents will record 0 shot on target after going the first two in same route.
