With David Luiz confirmed departure, addding a centre-back to the ranks could be seen as a top priority for Arsenal during the upcoming transfer window.
A lot of Arsenal fans have identified William Saliba as the perfect David Luiz replacement but the 20-year-old is now being linked with a permanent exit away from the Emirates Stadium.
According to reports, Bayer Leverkusen have expressed an interest and are keen on signing William Saliba on a permanent basis during the summer window.
Former Arsenal Boss, Unai Emery bought Saliba in the summer of 2019 from French club Saint-Etienne and has since not made a senior debut for the Gunners.
Saliba left the Emirates Stadium on loan once in January,joining OGC Nice for the remainder of the season and have performed excellently for the French Side.
William Saliba have long admitted that life have been difficult for him since he arrived at the North London club.
“My first six months (at Arsenal) were difficult, because I was coming from six months where I wasn’t able to train.
I was at home because of the pandemic and couldn’t train outside, couldn’t play. Said Saliba.

“I arrived there as they were finishing the leagues season, so I was training alone.
As soon as they came back from holidays, we quickly had the first friendly matches where I lacked rhythm and was a bit insufficient physically.
“The coach immediately told me that I was not ready. I would have at least liked to have a chance to rediscover my rhythm. But this is football, it’s like that”. He added.
Although the 20-year-old future in north London is yet to be decided, Mikel Arteta have expressed his desire to keep him and could play a big role in Arsenal’s rebuild.
