Arsenal Morning News: Arsenal are hoping to restore back into Europa League zone after having lost chase of the top four zone with Dani Ceballos likely to make an appearance today while Thomas Partey takes on the sideline.
Arsenal are still believing in Mikel Aterta’s vision for the club and could be diving big into the transfer market come summer with Tiago Tomas being one of the main targeted name.
Pierre Aubameyang has been struggling with form since penning his contract extension late last year, leaving the striking burden to Lacazette and young Nketiah.
Gunners are looking elsewhere for solutions as they also give Auba space to return to form after he crumbled from a goal-massacre season.
The North London side already pinpointed a major target for this role as the club’s technical director, Edu stating that Arsenal will try to avoid mistakes made on Cristano Ronaldo’s scenario.
Arsenal were favorites to pen Cristano Ronaldo during his Sporting Lisbon days but failed to move in on time before Manchester United came from behind to snatch the World Best.
The club now have their eyes on another talented star from same Sporting CP and are willing to offer good price for the star.
Arsenal will continue negotiations for Tiago Tomas ahead of the summer transfer window when he would be making a switch if they succeed in agreeing terms.
Thomas Partey Injury Update
Thomas Partey could be regretting his move to North London after suffering yet another injury despite having just returned from a long spell.
The Ghanaian has been limited to only 11 league appearances for Arsenal since joining from Atletico Madrid back in October 2020.
Mikel Arteta provided update on the 27-year-old’s injury after the Aston Villa game as he revealed the midfielder is ‘devastated’ with his happenings.
“He was devastated, we were all devastated because we know the importance of Thomas and we haven’t had him since we signed him, we haven’t had him in three games consecutively,” Mikel Arteta said.
“I think he has only played 90 minutes once since he has come back from injury, so it is a big blow for us but he is adapting to the league, he has been very unlucky as well.
“He is very frustrated because he is a very competitive guy who wants to feel important and be important for the team and at the moment the injuries are restricting a lot of game time for him.
“He felt something during the game [at Villa Park] and we didn’t think it was too bad but after the scan looked a little bit worse. He won’t be available to play against Leeds and we will see how it evolves in the next two days but it is a muscular issue.”
Dani Ceballos Latest Transfer Update
Arsenal are considering making Dani Ceballos‘ stay at Emirates Stadium permanent as the Spaniard has proven to love his stay with the club.
Ceballos is expected to return to the line up today after having missed couple of games due to an injury suffered weeks back.
Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka partnered in his absence and with Partey injured Ceballos is more likely to return to the starting 11 today.
Should the 24-year-old continue impressing, Arsenal are more likely to pay the £22m Real Madrid are asking for.
