Arsenal are reportedly in talks for a two-player swap deal plus cash for Bayer Leverkusen axe Leon Bailey this winter transfer window.
The Gunners are currently in the fight of their lives as the relegation zone looms nearer and nearer each passing week.
In a bid to add much needed fire to the team, a January swoop for Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey seems to be in view with hopes of rendering two players to the Bundesliga side to facilitate Bailey landing.
Nicholas Pepe and Willian Borges have been identified as potential swap tools for the bargain, in addition to £40m for the left-footed winger.Embed from Getty Images
The 23-year-old Jamaican has blossomed into one of Bundesliga’s finest shooters this season, having spearheaded his Leverkusen side to a 2nd place position thus far and Europa League knockout stage qualification.Embed from Getty Images
It however seems to be far from a stroll in the park for the Gunners as fellow Londoners Chelsea are also eyeing a move for Bailey, having declared desire to become a Blue someday in the past.
But given the heightened desperation from Arsenal due to an Abysmal run of results, a winter Emirates switch for Bailey isn’t at all far fetched with Edu suggesting a January transfer rampage last week.Embed from Getty Images
The prolific winger is currently valued at £85m but Arsenal seem unwilling for such a price tag but are disposed to trading Willian and Pepe for a drastically reduced price for Bailey.
With potential acquisition of Bailey, Mikel Arteta can leverage a more vertical style of play, with a new number 10 also in prospect this winter at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal will renew their bitter rivalry when they play host to Chelsea tomorrow with hopes of arresting their worst ever start to a league campaign.
