The German was left out of Arsenal squad for the current season alongside Sokratis who could be leaving soon to Fenerbahçe as Arteta hinted on possible chances of Ozil returning to the squad
Arsenal have been seen struggling earlier before returning to wining ways lately as several fans call for the reinstating of Mesut Ozil who was left out unregistered in the season’s squad.
With a contract set to expire in the summer period of the current year, Ozil future remains uncertain despite Mikel Arteta’s current proclamation.
Speaking to reporters, Arteta said; “We will see what happens in the transfer window and we will assess that at the end.”
Ozil is certain to see to the end of his contract with the North London team should they decide not to hand an extension with Arteta revealing the club are in no way planning to cut players’ contracts short.
“You have to respect the players’ contracts,” he added. “What you can do is just try to be open with them, tell them your intentions, the role that they have in the team and why that is.
“They are entitled to make the decision in their lives because they have a contract here. Some would like to move because they are not playing and some would like to stay. That’s something we cannot decide by ourselves.”
Ozil having been linked lately to several teams could be remaining with the squad as Arteta’s squad flush plans will create a space for him to be registered as the second phase of the season sets to kick off.
The 32-year-old returning to the squad would come as a bolster to Arsenal who has so far lacked creativity in the center following his subtraction from the squad.
