Arsenal have reportedly completed the signing of Brighton defender Ben White for a total fee of £45M although he is worth £50million.
The Gunners have been looking for an ideal long-term replacement for David Luiz and have identified the Brighton Defender as a suitable replacement.
Arsenal opening offer of £40million was turned down by Brighton but the Gunners returned with an improved offer and a fee have been agreed between the two sides, a figure close to £45M.
Arsenal suffered a difficult season in defence last season and could do with a new face in the backline after the confirmed departure of Luiz.
Ben White shone for Brighton throughout last season, hence the reason while a lot of top clubs were on his trail but the England International have now chosen to play at the Emirates.
While it is unclear what this means for talented young Saliba coming through, it seems this deal could put the Frenchman’s future at the Emirates in doubt.
The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Nice after Mikel Arteta admitted he[Saliba] wasn’t ready for the Premier League.
The Gunners now risk losing a very talented young player but Arteta will surely find a way around it with White obviously a good addition.
