Chelsea winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to make long awaited return from Achilles injury as he is preparing to hit first eleven against Carabao cup opponents, Grimsby.
Hudson had been sidelined by his Achilles injury for a very long time as he witnessed the management switch right from the bench.
The supporters at Stamford Bridge have long waited to see him play again and would be really glad Frank Lampard has confirmed the youngster is in his line-up against Grimsby.
While on injury, Chelsea had Callum’s contract extended for 5 more years after the Blues faced a fierce bid battle from Bayern Munich who tried to steal him away.
“They will be involved on Wednesday night, they’ll be involved,” Lampard told reporters as he also included Reece James in his starting lineup.
“We certainly need to look at players that haven’t been playing as much against Grimsby,” he continued.
“We’ll pay them due respect, but it’s certainly a case of getting minutes for players who haven’t been playing. Callum is on the road to recovery.
“It was a long injury, so he needs game time and Reece similarly.”
Reece James is believed to be Azpilicueta’s potential replacement in the first team as Frank Lampard plans to make significant changes to the squad that lost against Liverpool.
Christian Pulisic was also named as a starter for the game.
