Thiago Silva limped off Spurs clash as Chelsea now take decision amid the defender’s contract
Chelsea have seen their defense line hit utmost composure with the presence of Thiago Silva at the back line since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel at the expense of Frank Lampard.
Having gone three games without conceding any goal, Blues could see a setback after the Brazilian was knocked off their last game while trying to stop a ball from getting across to Heung Son.
Silva has until August to stay at Stamford Bridge after penning a year contract during his arrival from PSG.
Seeing how much contribution the 36-year-old has brought to the squad, Chelsea are reportedly arranging to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the club would be soon meeting with Silva’s agent in order to have the contract extended.
Chelsea will battle Sheffield United on their next fixture and Tuchel believes it’s to early for Silva to return to the squad.
“It will be very tight for Sunday’s game, only two days recovery,” Tuchel said.
“It is too early to give a diagnosis because I saw him very briefly with a big strap around his muscle.
“We will have to wait until tomorrow so we can confirm it but I think for Sunday he is a big doubt.”
