Chelsea are hoping to extend their win tally when they travel to St. James’ Park tomorrow but may likely do so without some key players.

Having managed to build a team that has so far been able to put up impressive performances for much of the season despite the unavailability of certain first team players, the former Chelsea midfielder could find his squad depth tested further.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man tested positive for Coronavirus earlier and was forced into self isolation.

It’s now a thing of joy for the Blues supporters as Kai Havertz has made it back to the training ground after missing out on Germany‘s international friendly against Czech Republic and Euro Nations League matches against Ukraine and Spain.

Kai Havertz is back. His isolation is over and he tested negative two days ago so he’s just started training on his own to get some of his fitness back after two weeks at home,” Lampard said via the zoom video link.

Nevertheless, the 21-year-old remains a doubt for the clash at St. James’ Park .

Pulisic picked up a knock in the pre-match warm-up at Turf Moor, subsequently missing The Blues 3-0 trashing of Rennes in the UEFA Champions league and 4-1 mauling of Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge before being sidelined from international duty.

The 22-year-old American’s latest injury was received with somewhat shock having featured in just a few games since recovering fully from a hamstring injury picked up in the final of The Blues last season FA cup final loss against Arsenal.

According to Frank Lampard; Pulisic is also back to training with hopes of returning to action soon.

But it’s clear that the former Borussia Dortmund winger won’t be in the line up against Newcastle.

Christian Pulisic is not fit for Newcastle but he’s stepped up his training slowly,” Lampard added.

“It’s been quite a problematic injury so we’ll stay cautious.”

The Brazilian is said to have arrived from his country bit late and is likely not going to be ready for the Saturday early kick-off.

Thiago Silva has just landed and messaged me this afternoon so he probably won’t be going to Newcastle because of the length of his journey and timings.” Lampard added.

Ben Chilwell Latest update

Chilwell missed England’s last match as he is still going under medical procedures to determine he is finally back in shape.

In his statement, Frank Lampard disclosed of his hopes of having the former Leicester City man back to the field when they face Newcastle.

“With Ben Chilwell, I haven’t seen him yet.”

“He stayed with England and was on the bench last night. He’s been improving and getting fantastic care with England so I’m more positive he’ll be okay,” Lampard said.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old trained yesterday with the squad and hopefully will be pushing the attack from the left back as he usually does.

“We’re still waiting on some test results for players arriving back from international duty,” he continued.

“Some of them played last night and will unfortunately not arrive back until this afternoon so with a 12.30 kick-off on a Saturday there are clearly a lot of challenges for us.”

“I am optimistic. It has to be safe first and foremost but when you see other areas of life where we are having gatherings that are controlled in safe environments then we have to look at football and try to get it back as quickly as we can,” he concluded when asked about fans likely to return before Christmas.
