Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has been reported to having an eye on Atletico Madrid defender, Jose Gimenez as the Blues looks to reinforce defensive line.
Lampard is fully aware of Chelsea’s defensive leaks and hopes he can fill the gap this transfer window with sources disclosing the English man have scouters watching Atletico Madrid defender, Jose Gimenez.
Chelsea’s defensive loopholes were made clearly visible during their visit to Anfield when the Liverpool found the back of their net disgracefully, with the Blues conceding 5 goals during the visit.
A problem Frank Lampard needs to handle before the resumption of the next if he desires to compete majorly with his side likely into the Uefa Champions league zone as Leicester lose will seal their qualification.
But for Lampard to land Jose Gimenez he would have to let go of one of his 4 center-backs Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen or Fikayo Tomori so as to create space for the Gimenez.
The Blues have a good player transfer business relationship with Atletico Madrid but this might alter that relationship as Atletico Madrid placed a Release Clause of over £100m on the 25-year-old.
Chelsea are definitely not gonna cash in such huge sum for a defender. There is a clear ground Atletico would be getting an offer below the price tag they set.
Adding to the fact that Giminez has had problems with injuries in the recent past but Jose has managed to make a total of 26 appearances for Atletico this season as well has been a regular feature in the squad since the resumption of the league.
Also linked to Liverpool, Giminez is a defender considered very strong in the air, which is one of the main qualities Frank Lampard made mention of that he needs to look for when replacing his defense line.
Chelsea had also considered resigning Declan Rice but West Ham are back into the EPL safe zone and has shown no interest in letting Declan Rice leave the team as he he is considered one of the most valued assets in the club.
For now, Declan Rice’s return to Stamford Bridge is ruled out, unless the English man decides to push for a transfer during the transfer window. Although Chelsea have considered sending Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley the opposite way to help facilitate the transfer but West Ham seem reluctant on letting the £80m defender leave.
Another cheaper option is Nathan Ake but Ake isn’t good with Ariel tackles and that might clearly rule him out from Frank Lampard’s list as the English man prepare a permanent or loan departure for one of his defender to create a vacuum for fresh mind.
