City cruises to comfortable Champions league opener

Man city cruised to a comfortable 0-3 victory last night in Donetsk, marking an impressive and remarkable Ucl opener for the English champions.

This comes few days after a shocking loss to newly promoted Norwich city in the EPL, a result which saw the Cityzens sleep five points below league leaders Liverpool. They however made no mistake this time in dismantling the Ukrainians with a fascinating performance.

Riyad Mahrez opened scoring for the visitors with a rebound off Ilkay Gundogan’s left-footed strike which struck the bar, Gundogan added a second for the visitors in the 38th minute.

City kept pressing for most parts of the second half which they of course got after Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne played a through ball to Gabriel Jesus, with the finisher sending the ball past the Shakhter goalkeeper.

This sees Sterling extend his scoreless drought to three consecutive games after a frustrating night for him. The winger will look to end his drought when City take on Watford at the Etihad on Saturday.

Guardiola has however insisted that Sterling is not on the same level with Ronaldo and Messi and that he’s not under any form of pressure.
