Community Shield: Manchester City begins 2019/2020 in style as they crush Liverpool on penalty shoot out.

Manchester City showed they are prepared to dominate the Premier League once more as after beating Liverpool on a penalty shoot-out to win the Community Shield trophy.

The Citizens dominated the start of the match following an early goal from Raheem Sterling 12 minutes into the game.

Possession remained with Guardiola’s men until the second half when Liverpool took control and attempted an equalization but the woodwork deprived Van Dijk netting a goal.

Though a confusing ball to decide but the goal-line technology helped the officials quickly ascertain that the ball which hit the woodwork and then the center line never crossed as it bounced back.

Liverpool continued the pressure as they fired 17 shots which 9 were on target against Manchester City’s 8 shots which 3 managed to go on target.

Man City maintained their lead until the 77 minute when a rough tackle handed Liverpool a free kick which Joel Matip managed to convert into a goal.

The both clubs held until the score until the end of the game and headed into a Penalty shoot-out.

All players scored in the shoot-out except Liverpool’s Wijnaldum as Gabriel Jesus drove the shoot into the net, handing Manchester City the trophy.
