Arsenal manager has been urged to make new signings, David Luiz captain as former defender qualifies the former Chelsea man as a man with vocal qualities.
David Luiz might be handling the captain band soon if Unai Emery heeds to Nigel Winterburn advice in choosing the next Arsenal captain.
Winterburn made 440 appearances for Arsenal during the 1987-2000 premier league season and netted 8 goals before moving to West Ham United where he retired in 2003.
The 55-year-old former defender disclosed to reporters while been interviewed by Sportingbet that David Luiz despite been a new player and yet to make his debut, deserves to become the Arsenal captain.
According to words of the English former defender, David Luiz has more captainship qualities than the rest of the Arsenal squad as he’s been considered more vocal than the rest.
Nigel went on to share that a captain should be one willing to annoy his teammates at any time, and he sees David Luiz as one with such qualities.
“Emery should make David Luiz his captain for this season,” Nigel told Sportingbet .
“He has the ability to be that Tony Adams figure in Arsenal ’s backline.
“I know he’s new, but that doesn’t worry me at all.
“A captain needs to be someone that’s vocal, someone that’s not scared to make people aware of their responsibilities within a game just because they might upset them for five minutes.”
“Like a lot of supporters, I’m not a fan of this rotational five-man captain.
“Of course, every player should have the ability to be a captain on the pitch and let other players know if there is a problem but you need a figurehead – someone who can lead by example.”
David Luiz €8m late transfer window switch is considered a major defensive boost to Unai Emery squad as the Brazilian sets to make debut for the North London side.
