The Senegalese has stunned fans by his humility when he disclosed he doesn’t own the credit for his clean sheets
Edouard Mendy has managed to become a major goalkeeper in the premier league since completing his move from the French League 1.
The 29-year-old has bagged 22 clean sheets in his first 38 games for Chelsea but insists he doesn’t own the glory for the impressive stats.
According to Mendy, not conceding goals has been a collective work from both him and his excellent defense men.
“I know I made a lot of clean sheets but I’m not counting them,” Mendy told France Football.

“That’s because it’s not something that I make on my own. The goalkeeper is as important as the guy in front of him. At the end of the day, I’m the one who has to make the stops, yes.
“But in front of me, there is a whole structure, ten players who move and complicate the task of the opponent. It’s a team performance and not something I can own on my own.”
Mendy will be in between the sticks tonight when Chelsea take on Real Madrid for the Champions League semi finals.
