Thiago Silva had to be subbed early after injuring himself in an attempt to stop a deadly strike from materializing
Thiago Silva has been the main reason Chelsea’s defense have been so composed and his absence may only do damages.
Andrea Christensen had to come in for the 38-year-old during the 36th minute of the game following his thigh injury from a stretch.
It’s good thing Christensen was conscious enough to manage the tempo from the backside alongside Antonio Rudiger but Silva being out for too long is definitely not going to be good for Tuchel’s Chelsea agenda.
Chelsea have managed three clean sheets since Tuchel took over from Lampard and all of these three games, he had Rudiger and Thiago Silva partnering at the backline.
The Brazilian’s thigh injury might come as a setback for the team unless Christensen provides long term support as wished for.
With the side closer to a top 4 return, the win yesterday is a crucial one ahead of their clash against Sheffield United on Sunday when they will be eyeing another victory.
Thiago Silva is on the other hand more of a doubt for the Sunday game following reports from their manager on the injury.
Speaking after the game yesterday, Tuchel said; “It will be very tight for Sunday’s game, only two days recovery
“It is too early to give a diagnosis because I saw him very briefly with a big strap around his muscle.
“We will have to wait until tomorrow so we can confirm it but I think for Sunday he is a big doubt.”
Chelsea are only to learn of the defender’s injury later today but it’s for now believed he is a doubt for the game against Sheffield United as it would be too early to recover.
