Chelsea new manager has disclosed that he has been impressed for the past 10 days by Jorginho’s performances.
Jorginho was greatly criticized last season under his favorite manager, Maurizio Sarri whom he arrived with from Napoli.
Sarri opting to replace N’golo Kante position with Jorginho was a tune most Chelsea supporters hated, considering Kante’s contribution in the team, especially while on the role.
Pushing Kante to the side of the pitch and making Jorginho the central man blinded most Chelsea supporters from seeing what Sarri sees in Jorginho.
This also was a great part of the reasons why Chelsea fans asked for Sarri’s replacement, but it seems the old man was right.
Sarri’s successor and Chelsea Legend, Frank Lampard might have shocked Jorginho’s criticizers when he said he sees great value in Jorginho.
While speaking to Daily Express, Lampard disclosed that watching Jorginho train in the last 10 days made him so glad that he has such a player in his team.
“His attitude in training has been first class. He’s a driver of a session. Lampard told Daily Express.
“He’s a voice. He runs, he pushes people around him, he drags people up when he doesn’t feel they’re working as much as he might want.
“I’ve loved seeing that. So in terms of first impressions, working with him for 10 days, I can’t ask for any more. I’m delighted to have him.”Embed from Getty Images
When asked if he plans to keep Jorginho at the position or return Kante and then look for other position for the Italian, Lampard told Daily Express;
“He played in one position and the manager had faith in him and it became something that was talked about, possibly too much.
“But I’m a new manager. I have new ideas. We might be more adaptable in the way we play. I might ask different things of Jorginho, of N’Golo Kante, of Ross Barkley – of anybody. The new manager continued.
“I’m not stuck in a conversation from last year. I’m looking at a player who has very much impressed me over the last 10 days.” He ended.
Lampard’s explanations on Jorginho’s attributes likened that of a captain and maybe he plans to hand him the captain band by the start of the season.
