Mikel Arteta seems to have advised Mesut Ozil while planning to axe him from the club’s Premier Leave squad.
Ozil and Arsenal are almost done and the Turkish knows that, but it’s sad ending in such manner for the club’s most goals creator.
Just days after being excluded from the Europa League squad, Mesut Ozil could be axed from Arsenal’s Premier League squad.
Gunners have 16 Foreign players, which is 2 in excess.
Both Sokratis and Ozil are close to the exit door despite the former Real Madrid man’s contract would run till next year.
But it’s believed Ozil could sign a pre-contract terms in January ahead his move out when his contract expires in January.
The worst part is that no team are likely to cash in on Ozil’s heavy wages with the world cup winner sitting on a £350k per week deal.
While playing the role of a supportive manager during this career crises for Ozil, Arteta has urged the star to keep working hard incase any deal shows up.
Arteta believes steady works in training despite missing out on games could eventually draw suitors that might interest Ozil who had stated in the recent past of his desires to see out his contract at Emirates Stadium.
“[Ozil and Sokratis] have to respect that decision, try to train the best possible way, help the team as best they can and see what happens,” Arteta said.
When asked about his decision of axing Ozil from the Europa League squad, Arteta said;
“Well he wasn’t the only one who’s not in the squad.”
“It was a really difficult decision for me to make because to leave players out of the squad at that level where they know they cannot get involved is really tough.
“I don’t like it at all but the decision has to be made because we have a limit on foreign players and unfortunately we have to make that decision.”
