Arsenal could be trailing on a wrong path following their inability to cash in as required in chase to land Houssem Aouar.
Having monitored the French man and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey since the beginning of the summer transfer window, Gunners are yet to make a concrete offer for either of the stars.
In order to hasten business, Lyon decided to tag a Friday deadline to their transfer business which included Arsenal must wrap up move for Houssem before Friday.
With the last offer made believed to be around €30m, Arsenal really went in again with another offer which only left the French side disappointed.
Following his conversation with Canal+, Lyon’s President, Jean-Michel Aulas tagged Arsenal’s latest bid for Aouar as a ‘Timid’ bid.
“There was a timid offer,” Jean Michel said to Canal+. “We felt like they didn’t consider the fact that this is a player in the French national team.”
“So, it was an offer that did not even make us consider making a sale.”Aulas went on to dislcose around what price range they are expecting Arsenal to come up with.
Asked if Lyon was expecting either €50m or €40m for the star, Aulas said.“It is certainly more than the first number that you mentioned,” he said.
Having lost to Liverpool yesterday in a 3-1 scoreline, Arsenal’s weak midfield was made obvious falling the absence of Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi.
Arsenal are expected to have a busy end of the current transfer window with just few days to go.
“There is a week to go. I think it is going to be really busy for all the clubs because not much business has been done, so let’s see what happens,” he said.
“I think it is going to be really busy for the Premier League, I don’t know for us how it is going to happen.”
