The Southwest London side are likely to face competition from Bitter rivals as delay in sealing the 23-year-old’s move accrues interest from Old Trafford.
Man United has been identified as possibly wanting to enter for a chase for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell with Chelsea not willing to complete the English man’s move.
It’s no news Chelsea are eyeing bringing in Ben Chiwell after Frank Lampard identified he has a weak left back which he doesn’t believe either Marcos Alonso nor Emerson Palmieri can strengthen, following the duo’s recent poor performances.
Among several other targets identified as a reinforcement is Ben Chilwell but according to The Athletic, not everyone at Stamford Bridge believes Leicester City asking for same amount paid for Harry Magurie is justifiable.Embed from Getty Images
Not everyone at Chelsea trusts Ben Chilwell’s worth that such amount despite have 11 caps for his National side.
Below is what The Athletic‘s David Ornstein said of Chelsea and Ben Chilwell on the Tifo Podcast’s Ask Ornstein show
“In central defence, we know that Lampard is very fond of Declan Rice at West Ham and would like to convert him from a midfielder into a top centre-back.
“I know people in football who think he can become world class in that position.Embed from Getty Images
“West Ham will demand an incredibly high fee, sources have suggested in the region of £65m to £70m, they don’t need to sell and they’re in a strong position contractually.
“I don’t think everybody at Chelsea is convinced by Declan Rice but it’s definitely one that Lampard wants.
“They’ve already made attacking additions as we know with Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech and it’s going to be a busy summer at Stamford Bridge as they look to get back to challenging for the very top honours on a regular basis.”
A delay in decision making that has tipped United into heading back to King Power Stadium after seeing how Harry Maguire’s £80m has favored their defense line, claimed a report from MirrorSport.
Paying another £80m clearly might not be a problem for the Red Devils who looks to add more power to Luke Shaw’s position after United suffered series of draw back when the English man suffered an injury.
Leicester are on the other hand open to accepting any offer for the 23-year-old, so far as it comes with an £80m price tag as he remains tied to the Foxes until 2024.
