Pep Guardiola has broken the silence over the reason why they missed out on Harry Maguire deal as defender sets to join Man United.
Manchester City dropped out of Maguire chase after Leicester City raised the Englishman’s price tag to a whooping £90m leaving Manchester United alone in the bid.
The Red Devils remained linked to the defender as they view him as top transfer target for Ole Solskjaer who plans to restore the glory at Old Trafford.
Maguire is reported to have arrived Manchester United training ground today to complete his medicals as Manchester city disclosed reason why they dropped out of the chase.
According to Metro, Pep Guardiola told reporters that Manchester City dropped out cause they weren’t able to afford the 26-year-old.
‘Top class player.’ Guardiola said after they won Liverpool 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out to win the Community shield.
‘We were interested but we could not afford it. United could afford it. ‘Congratulations to United on this signing.’
City turned to Joao Cancelo as the Juventus man set to arrive Etihad amid a swap deal which would see former Real Madrid man, Danilo go the other way.
