Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has disclosed uncertainty in whether Gunners will provide him necessary funds needed to reinforce his squad.

The Transfer window is almost here and teams are planning on reinforcements but according to recent disclosures, its believed Arsenal might miss out on some of the big opportunities as Arteta claims the team might likely not give him the funds required.

Gunners triumphed over Champions, Liverpool after Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker’s errors dashed Liverpool’s hopes of breaking the premier league points at the Emirates Stadium.

Securing the 3 points with a 2-1 victory now place the North London side 3 points behind 6th placed Wolves as they still hope on getting back to the Europa spot.

While speaking to Skysports after the game, Arteta disclosed his fear of likely not going to be funded by the club to get the necessary players needed for Arsenal to make it to the top four in the coming season.

“It’s a big concern. You can see how [Liverpool] build their squad and there is no magic, you need to improve the squad with quality, quality players. And we need a bigger squad to compete in this competition. That is the challenge,” Arteta told Skysports.

“It’s a massive job. You only have to look at the difference between the two teams – it’s enormous. The gap in many areas we can’t improve it in two months but the gap between the accountability, the energy, the commitment and the fight between the two teams is now equal,” he continued.

“Before it wasn’t like this. I’m very proud of that. The rest will take some time but at least we’ve got that now and my message to the players is with that we can create something,” he added.

Skysports pundit, Graeme Souness also went further to stress on the fact that Arsenal would hardly get back into the top 4 if they don’t spend heavily like other teams.

“I don’t think Arsenal will be getting into the top four next season,” Souness said.

“Manchester United are on the right road, Liverpool and Manchester City are going nowhere, Chelsea have and are going to spend big this summer.

“Arteta doesn’t know how much money is going to be available this summer, but the noises coming out of the club are not encouraging if he wants £100 or £200m to spend.”
