PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Neymar’s absence really took the weight off the parisians shoulder and helped them play without pressure.
Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani was also missing in action, which perhaps led to the German tactician insisting the absence of key players enabled his boys to produce a spectacular result against the Spanish giants.
Neymar whose future was in doubt throughout the summer transfer window was ruled out of the match through suspension and could only watch from the stands alongside Kylian Mbappe as the Paris outfit dismantled Real Madrid.
Tuchel recently admitted the Brazilian forward tried to leave the club during summer transfer window. speaking to DAZN, the former Dortmund boss said “you could feel that, i understand if the fans are angry, even permanently”.
“Nevertheless, there is also a side between me as a coach and him as a player. There was never a break or a discrepancy. That’s why it was very easy for me to let him play. He has always trained professionally”.
“I feel that the decision was a relief to him, even though it was against his wishes.
“Then, one is automatically focused on the task. As an athlete there is not much else you can think about. You have to give your all. He is hungry and a competitive guy who always wants to win.
“He has to withstand it [the boos and whistles from the fans] now, that’s the reality. He has to go through it, and we all have to go through it in the home games. The best thing is to come to terms with it.”
The 27 years old now seems to have found his feet with the Parisians, scoring in the 90th minute against Strasbourg in the Ligue 1.
