Chelsea confirms Olivier Giroud has extended his contract until 2022
The Frenchman was linked to an exit move to AC Milan as even Ibrahimovic spoke of how his arrival will boost the squad.
But just like other loved aged stars, Giroud has been handed an extension into 2022 when he can then decide to leave or stay.
Speaking on his extension, Maria Granovskaia said; “Olivier has been such a crucial part of so many big moments for this club, from his contribution to our FA Cup victory in 2018 to scoring 11 goals on the way to winning the Europa League in 2019.”
“He has continued to score significant goals, and we will never forget his effort against Atletico Madrid on the way to winning the UCL this season.”
“With so much to still to play for, there was only one decision we could make when we exercised the option to extend his contract back in April.”
Chelsea although are still in pursuit for a striker and according to Matt Law, Giroud could still leave Chelsea this summer despite having extended his contact.
But it all depends on Chelsea now, as similar happened with David Luiz who left at the end of same month he extended his contract.
