Real Madrid news reports: Real Madrid drop Thibaut Courtois as Alphonse Areola sets to start as Los Blancos battle Granada.

PSG Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola might be fully taking over Thibaut Courtois’ place at Santiago Bernabeu as AS reports, the Frenchman would start against Granada tomorrow.

Areola also had been used to substitute out-of-form Courtois just 45 minutes after the kick-off whistle as Real Madrid came from behind to share points with Club Brugge on Tuesday.

The Belgian has also been reported to have missed training for the second consecutive time after the Tuesday Champions League clash.

Areola joined Los Blancos on loan from PSG this season and would likely have his contract made permanent if he puts out good performances.

The 26-year-old has been a loan option since he was promoted to the Paris Saint German senior team, moving from Lens,to Bastia, to Villarreal and then Real Madrid where he was included in a deal that had Keylor Navas move the opposite direction.

Alphonse is yet to make his second start for Real Madrid following his clean-sheet debut for the Spanish side against Osasuna on 25th September, 2019.

The Goalkeeper might probably break his record of having less than 35 appearances for each club he joined on loan, if only he proves to be better than Courtois who only widens the door with his low performances.

Real Madrid hope to extend following their terrific rise to the top despite their terrible start.
