Reece James revealed he is one of the many that still can’t believe how good Chelsea have turned out in the shortest period
The English side saw their former manager sacked halfway and with Tuchel overtaking the wheels, one could easily write off Chelsea’s chances of making major impacts this season.
But unlike expected, Chelsea have turned the stories around under Tuchel, recording 13 clean sheets since the German took over.
With the Blues now in the semis of both the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup and also in a spot to finish top 4 in the premier league, Reece James has revealed he is still marveled at the dramatic change.
“The season started off a bit strange and if you’d said we would have been here at the start of the season, then we probably wouldn’t have believed you,” James said.
“But it just shows with hard work, if everyone gets their head down and we work as a team and come together, then it shows what’s possible.

“As we’ve progressed in the Champions League, obviously the games have got harder and it’s higher stakes. I’ve never been in this position before, like a lot of the other young lads, and we’re learning a lot on the way.
Chelsea battered a trophy-hungered FC Porto on their first legs as that handed them advantage to advance into the semi finals despite losing 1-0 on the second legs.
The West London side will go head to head with unfamiliar opponent, Real Madrid after last meeting in a UEFA game back in 1998 when Chelsea won the Super Cup.
Ahead of the game 27th April, Reece James believes his side has got every needed skills to advance past the Spanish Champions.
“You can’t go into games with any fear. You can acknowledge a good team, but you can’t go in worrying,” the 21-year-old continued.
“We’re a very good team as well and we have many strengths and we play to our strengths as well, and I think that’s shown over recent weeks. I just hope we can continue our good form and keep improving as a team.
“Going into every game, we need to have our heads up and go into the games positively and we can’t fear anyone – whoever we get, we just have to take it and prepare well for that game.
“We feel very confident going into games. We work hard defensively as a team and do a lot of work in training on how we defend as a unit. We make sure we take that into games.
Real Madrid indeed has been the side both Chelsea fans and Thomas Tuchel wished to be matched against to confirm how strong they have become.
The Spanish side have remained impressive since January as they are yet to lose a competitive game and prove to be a tough side for Blues.
But Reece James seems prepared to battle the former UCL champions after revealing he expected being matched against a tough side as Los Blancos after advancing past the round of 16 of the campaign.
“Of course, when you come to the later stages of competitions, you know you are going to come up against top-class teams so we need to be ready and at our best right from the start. They are all very good teams so we will need to prepare well and be ready for both games.” he said.
Chelsea are keen on matching into their first finals under Tuchel as they prepare to battle FA Cup semi finals opponents, Manchester City on Saturday.
