Bruno Fernandes disclosed that his idol was a player Sir Alex Ferguson tried signing back in 2007.
Sir Alex Ferguson and Ole Solskjaer must have something in common as the current manager finds great interest on a player his former boss tried so hard to sign his idol.
According to Mirror, Bruno disclosed in an interview while speaking with reporters that his idol is no other than Rui Costa.
The Porto midfielder went on to share that the former AC Milan man is someone he idolises so much and as well a reference to him.
Rui Costa during his AC Milan days back in 2007 was greatly linked to an Old Trafford move but the Italian side were too quick to dismiss the links.
“It’s nonsense, Rui Costa is staying at Milan and he is non-transferable.
“It is impossible that Rui Costa will leave. He is certainly staying with Milan.” – said the then AC Milan’s Sporting Director, Ariedo Braida to Maisfutebol Rádio.
According to Bruno Fernandes, Rui Costa might not be well known despite his great career cause he left Portugal early.
“Rui Costa was a player I idolised; a reference for me.” Bruno said.
“He had an incredible career and he only needed to win something with Portugal, but I think I need [to achieve] a lot to be like him, [the comparison] isn’t fair.”
He continued, “many people, however, don’t know him because he left Portugal soon.”
Man. United are yet to complete Bruno’s signing but will what happened to his idol repeat on him?
