Mikel Arteta is in the summer transfer market looking to make some top additions to his side ahead of the new season and have identified Manuel Locatelli as a new signing.
Arsenal have been keeping close tabs on the Italian Midfielder since last season and with Granit Xhaka off to Roma, the Gunners will definitely need a replacement.
Manuel Locatelli contributed immensely to Italy’s Euro 2020 campaign, scoring two goals while stabilizing the Midfield, he might even feature at the final against England on Sunday.
The Sassuolo star due to these performances have drawn attention from a lot of big clubs including Juventus and Arsenal but the Gunners have reportedly put in a bid.
Meanwhile, one man who would like to see the Italian at the Emirates is former Arsenal striker, Sol Campbell.
Campbell believes He[Locatelli] would be a perfect partner to Thomas Partey in the middle of the park where Arsenal is currently short of options after Guendouzi and Xhaka departure.
Campbell said. “We have seen what a great player he is at the Euros.
“Normally, Italians like to stay in their own country, especially when Juventus come calling. But the great thing for Arsenal is Juventus do not have the money anymore.
“With financial fair play they have to box straight.”
“It gives Arsenal a great opportunity to get a world-class midfielder in beside Thomas Partey. Go for it. Go and get him, please Arsenal.”
With Arteta keen on transforming his side back into a competitive force, a team worthy of top four, it is expected that the club will go all out to land the player.
