Thiago Silva sets to see his Chelsea contract extended as it draws closer to end
Chelsea are looking to extend Thiago Silva’s contract beyond the initial one year he arrived for.
The Brazilian has played a major role in coordinating the Blues defense with Thomas Tuchel’s arrival clarifying how good having Silva at the back can be.
In all his involvements since Tuchel’s arrival, Chelsea are yet to concede a goal as he wasn’t featured in yesterday’s 2-1 victory against Sheffield United.
The 32-year-old is sidelined after picking up an injury against Tottenham while trying to stop a pass from getting to Son.
It’s reported the former PSG man is targeting a 2-week return to action as Chelsea set to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Silva is expected to be handed another one year contract.
It’s also had been speculated that terms could be adjusted but according to the Italian reporter, the Fulham based team he will renew the contract on same terms.
But it all still depends on Silva’s happiness as Blues aim to keep him solely on his desire to still play for the club after seeing the direction they are propelling.
Chelsea will be without Silva when they battle Barnsley on Thursday night.
