Thomas Tuchel hopes he can get the best out of struggling Timo Werner as he talks on best position to field his fellow German
Unlike his RB Leipzig days, Werner has since his arrival at Stamford Bridge failed to meet expectations which suggested he would have been top scorer in the EPL considering his records.
With the previous manager yet to discover best way to get the best out of Werner, the 24-year was meant to switch managers following the sack of Frank Lampard and appointment of Thomas Tuchel.
Having made 28 appearances for Chelsea so far, Timo Werner has only scored 9 goals for the Blues with his form already causing worry across the club.
Speaking ahead of the Burnley game, Tuchel stated that Timo Werner at this point needs total support to get back to form.
On the best position to field the German, Tuchel shared that he believes Timo Werner will do better when fixed between the LW and the striker position.
“We need a good position for him so that he can play a bit between the left wing and the center forward and we can get him behind the last line there at speed. He just needs confidence and a smile again.”
According to Tuchel, with Timo in this position he would get the space and time to pace and get into position to score goals and create chances.
Chelsea opted for a German manager specifically cause of Kai Havertz’s and Timo Werner’s struggling form and this looks to be a good pick considering Kai Havertz’s performance in the Wolves game.
Speaking on the claim, Tuchel told Skysport; “I’m not sure, but maybe that wasn’t the biggest disadvantage,” he said with a laugh and added: “Hopefully there were other reasons than just my nationality.”
Chelsea will welcome Burnley on Sunday when they fight to recoup lost points.
