Arsenal completed their first ever premier league double over Chelsea for the first time in 17 years
This win boosted their own hopes of ensuring they are playing European football next season.
Chelsea came back from a one goal deficit on Saturday to beat Manchester City to boost their top 4 hopes.
Although they remain fourth on 64 points, the defeat will give their rivals hope of sneaking into the top four.
They are six points ahead of West Ham, who have a game in hand, Seven ahead of Liverpool, who have two games in hand on the Blues.
Despite Chelsea’s impressive run in recent weeks, a mistake by Jorginho in the first half allowed Emile Smith Rowe to score what proved to be the winning goal for Arsenal.
Although Chelsea dominated possession and hit the woodwork twice late on, they couldn’t find an equaliser.
The game was over but it didn’t go down too well for Thomas Tuchel who claimed Arsenal were lucky and didn’t deserve to win the game.
In His Words: “It is a totally lucky win & nobody can argue with that.It is not a deserved win, not at all for Arsenal.
But I don’t want to go there 100 per cent because we all lacked concentration.
Maybe I also gave some signals to the team with changes that Saturday is on my mind.”
Arsenal are now eight on the log, one point behind Tottenham having played a game more.
