Christian Pulisic missed the game as Jorginho helped convert a Chelsea opportunity presented by Timo Werner who also won the side a penalty during Tottenham clash
Chelsea had faced a tough side last night who despite being at the bottom part of the table proved problematic to top table teams with the side having won Manchester United.
The Blues almost conceived a goal before V.A.R overturned a penalty decision by the referee.
Mason Mount continued his impressive form with an opening goal late in the first half with Timo Werner setting him up.
Jorginho was available to restore the lead after Timo Werner won his side another penalty.
Jorgi was seen with a different penalty style yesterday as Thomas Tuchel was quizzed on which of penalty styles he loved.
“I liked them both because they were both in the net!” Tuchel said.
“I will never judge a player how to take a penalty or give advice. I played football at a lower level and you can feel the pressure when the ball is lying on the spot.
“Jorgi can take the penalties how he feels confident. I am happy he could score both of them,” he added.
All the actions were without Christian Pulisic who always had to come from the bench to make huge changes to the pressure of the game.
Pulisic’s absence looked strange to everyone as he wasn’t reported injured before the game with everyone expecting to see him in the show.
According to Thomas Tuchel after the victory last night, Pulisic had to be left out due to certain family issues which he failed to give detailed explanation on.
“Christian Pulisic has some family issues to solve, and family is always first, so we decided to give him a rest,” Tuchel told reporters.
Another name absent is Thiago Silva who is yet to return from an injury he suffered during the clash against Tottenham during the game before Sheffield’s.
Speaking on Thiago Silva’s absence, Tuchel said; “Thiago we are fighting every day. He will be for sure out for the FA Cup. It will take several days, but we set the goal for Southampton, that’s maybe realistic but ambitious.
“We are doing everything and I know Thiago will do everything to be ready as soon as possible. With a muscle injury you cannot take any risks so when it’s healed it’s healed, you can’t accept the pain like other injuries.”
