The former Man United goalkeeper claims Beek will soon find his place in squad after making just 2 EPL starts since the start of the season
Donny van de Beek’s reason for arriving Man United has been doubting lately after seeing the Dutch man struggle to get game time under Solskjaer.
The 23-year-old remained an unused sub in United’s 0-0 draw with defending champions on Sunday.
With talks of a possible exit already erupting following interest from Inter Milan to land the former Ajax man on loan deal, Van Der Sar took his time to explain Beek’s situation at Old Trafford.
“I do talk to a lot of people at the club,” Van Der Sar said. “Fantastic attitude, he does well in training.
“It [fighting his way into midfield] is difficult. [Paul] Pogba is coming back, [Bruno] Fernandes is very important, [Nemanja] Matic and [Scott] McTominay are also there.
“It’s no shame at all, it’s also a big club, isn’t it? Of course, it’s a large amount (Van de Beek’s transfer fee), but they are confident that he will get there.”
On the other hand, in assuring of Beek’s future at the club, Solskjaer said;
“There are so many examples of players needing a little bit of time, quality players, we have many examples ourselves and there are other clubs with examples and sometimes it takes time. I’ve spoken to him and made him aware of how much we rate him.”
