Louis Van Gaal was tipped by Rooney as the best manager he’s ever worked for.
The Manchester United lengendary says Louis van Gaal is the best head coach he has worked under, despite working for Sir Alex Ferguson for nine years.
The English midfielder won five Premier League trophies and a Champions League under Sir Ferguson, but Van Gaal appears to have made a greater impression on him.
According to sky sports, the former England international praised the the total way and skills the Dutchman approaches them, the players and his coaching.
Van Gaal led United back into the Champions League after being employed in 2014 but was sacked one day after carrying them to FA Cup glory in 2016 but they couldn’t finish in top-four in EPL.
Rooney told Mirror “Van Gaal is by far the best coach I have worked with – one hundred per cent. His tactical skills, his way of preparing and his attention to the finest of details, I found amazing. I admired that in him. I had never looked at stuff like that before”
After praising his mentality, he went on to say that “Van Gaal knows that the way he works is tough for players. I made him aware of that at the time and we talked about this very well together”
He posed Louis as his role model saying “I regret how it all ended, yet I know one thing for sure – I have learnt a lot from him and I am definitely going to use those lessons for when I am a manager.”
Sky sports reports that he has already been offered management roles in England and the MLS but he is happy to work towards his coaching badges while continuing to play in Washington DC.
Despite his team mates Gerrard and Lampard managing Rangers in Scotland and Derby County in England respectively, he believes he still needs experience as he enjoys playing football for D. C united.
