The EPL clash between Man United and Tottenham has been revealed to have been censored over 100 times by Iranian TV

Man United triumphed over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium during the previous weekend with Cavani, Fred and Mason Greenwood all booked a spot on the scores sheet to suppress Son’s opening goal.

The game which also did feature a female assistant referee, Massey Ellis has been revealed to have censored over 100 of the parts showing the woman.

According to the Iranian law, it is prohibited to show the woman’s bare legs no minding she was actually doing her job.

As per DailyMail, the Iranian audience were shown a landscape image of the match so as to avoid seeing the female assistant referee.

A group that campaigns for Gender Discriminatory Laws, My Stealthy Freedom wrote on the issue pertaining the 35-year-old woman saying; “The television censors were rattled by the presence of a female referee in shorts.

“Their solution was to cut away from the action to views of London’s backstreets, which made a mockery of the game.

“At the end of the game, one of the commentators joked that he hoped the viewers enjoyed the geographic show.

“Censorship is in the DNA of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We should not normalise this practice. This is not our culture. This is the ideology of a repressive regime.”

This isn’t the first time a match is censored in Iran, back in April 2018, a part of AS Roma’s badge was reportedly blurred out during their ucl tie against FC Barcelona.

Also was Augsburg’s game against Bayern Munich was cancelled on the Iranian Television cause it was to be officiated by a woman; Bibiana Steinhaus who recently just got married to formed referee, Howard Webb.
