Manchester United are odds on to land kane
The English captain is one of the best players in the world without a doubt. But he’s yet to win anything worthy of note on a team level despite having multiple golden boots.
Tottenham are not even guaranteed a European place next season despite topping the charts for goals and assists he might not play on the European stage if he remains at spurs next season. He’s now looking for a move away in search of silverware that is the only taint on legacy.
He’s now heavily linked with a move to Manchester after chairman Daniel levy confirmed he’ll not be joining a London club
On paper, signing for City makes the most sense. Pep Guardiola guarantees silverware and the chance to improve even further.
United are still to prove their trophy-winning credentials, while Edinson Cavani is still knocking about.
Moving to Manchester City would not solve all of Kane’s problems, however. Given how good Guardiola’s no striker system has been this season, he might see his squad better without a proper No.9.
Throughout his career at Tottenham, Kane has been used to playing week in, week out. He may not be happy to warm the bench every other game as part of Guardiola’s rotation policy.
That’s especially worth considering when Kane has his sights set on Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record of 260 goals. He already has 165.
That begs the question of whether City really need Kane. They’ve won the Premier League and reached a Champions League final without a striker, scoring plenty of goals along the way.
If Spurs charge a high fee for the forward, in the region of 120 million pounds, as reported by Sky Sports, that may just make City think twice.
Despite their financial muscle, it’s something else to spend that kind of money on a player you don’t desperately need.
What’s more, City aren’t ones for spending big fees. The 68 million euros they spent on Ruben Dias last summer was their record transfer. Signing Kane would cost around double that, which is a big jump.
The grass, of course, is greener for Kane at a team like Guardiola’s City. Whether it tastes just as nice as the stuff he’s been having at Spurs is the other question.
Manchester United on the other hand might not be as good as their city rivals with their recent title records but all that could change with the addition of Harry who offers 20 league goals a season. And if they manage to get the deal for jardon Sancho over the line, they might have the perfect team to challenge city for the title.
