Willian strongly believes Chelsea can still lift a trophy this season

Chelsea Latest News: Willian believes Chelsea can still lift a trophy this season despite a rough start.

Chelsea just got into the arms of a new manager and at the same slammed with a transfer ban but their veteran winger, Willian believes his side is still a major competitor in England.

Willian is yet to start any competitive game for his new boss Frank Lampard. The 31 year old, was in an exclusive interview with Skysports and disclosed that his side is still fit to compete for trophies.

According to Willian, Chelsea losing Eden Hazard and David Luiz looks somewhat heavy, but they can still do better with the youngsters available.

The Blues had a very rough start after they were crushed by Man United on the opening day and before the international break also had shared points with newly promoted Sheffield United.

“I think Chelsea can win some titles this season,” Willian said to Skysports. “I know it will be hard this season to win titles, as usual, it is always hard.

“It is difficult when you lose players like David Luiz, Eden Hazard, but we have some quality young players here who can improve a lot and in the future become one of the best players in the league. I think we have a great team.

“But Chelsea is a big club and this shirt is heavy. When Chelsea go into a competition we go to win.

“It does not matter the players, it does not matter the coach, every year we want to win something, and I think this year we can do it again.”

Despite not being a major player in Frank Lampard’s plan for the team, Willian still believes the club is safe under Lampard’s watch.

“It has been good to work with him,” Willian continued. “He is a great man. The quality of training has been good.

“Of course we have to give some time to adapt, it is a new profile, a new philosophy, but I think we will adapt.”

We hope to see the 31-year-old in action as the Blues get back from the international break, although his future is uncertain as he has 1 year left on his contract paper.
